The Great Cask Hall at Hope Estate is one of the most impressive barrel rooms in the country,
and one of the Hunter Valley’s most popular function venues. The estate was founded in 1968
as Rothbury Estate by the late wine legends Len Evans and Murray Tyrrell.
Part of the working winery at Hope Estate, the Great Cask Hall is surrounded by 59 enormous
wine filled casks, each filled with 4,500 litres of wine. Take a look at the casks signed by
winemakers, former prime ministers and even a king! These casks, along with the warm
terracotta flooring and huge vaulted ceilings give the room an atmosphere (and aroma) of
The Great Cask Hall’s inviting ambience makes it the perfect location for events hosting up to
180 seated for dinner or 300 for your cocktail function. Corporate lunches through to themed
dinners, team events and product launches can all be catered for at The Great Cask Hall. Add
some excitement to your function with our “Famous Pokolbin Pan” experience - our chef cooking
dinner for your guests in front of a huge flaming pan (1.5m in diameter), the theatre of flames and
fantastic smells. Perhaps your guests would enjoy being Winemakers for a day with our “Blending
Games”, chefs for a day with our “Chefs Master-class” or working on their team building skills
with our range of outdoor activities. The venue is also perfect for wedding receptions.
A large shaded lawn area overlooking Hope Estates gardens, vineyards and lake is available for
expanding your event and taking in the great outdoors. As many as 200 kangaroos lounging
around the lake, can often be viewed from the lawn. Often wine tasting or pre-dinner drinks are
served on this lush area.
Catering is provided by Harvest Restaurant's ‘brigade of chefs’ with innovative menus that feature fresh
produce, using ingredients from local suppliers to create dishes with unique tastes, flavour and
textures to delight the palate.
